Orbea
bicycles are made in the heart of the Pyrenees by the passionate
and skilled worker-owners of Orbea. Northern Spain has a
tradition of metal mining and manufacturing, and it was in this
hotbed of manufacturing that the brothers Orbea opened their
metal tubing business in 1840. They became famous for their
finely crafted guns until they transitioned their expertise to
making bicycles in the 1930’s. At one time the company made
everything for the bikes save the tires.
By the 1990’s Orbea
was invested in creating the best bicycles in the industry.
Orbea is one of only two European companies in the bike industry
to have ISO 9001 certification for the highest standards of
quality. The company pursued the most innovative technology in
aluminum alloys, metal forming and carbon fiber composites.
Today this hard work is seen in bikes like the revolutionary new
flagship Orca, which is ridden by the world-class riders of
Euskaltel-Euskadi. This drive for artistry, performance and
technology has made Orbea one of the most successful bike makers
in the world. And it all started in the Heart of the Pyrenees. |
